Description
Five years ago, a selection of Petr Skoumal’s songs for children, When the Little Beaver Goes to Sleep, became a major success in music for the youngest listeners. This new selection follows it up with songs from Skoumal’s composed works If a Pig Had Wings, How to Hunt a Gorilla and Pastries, as well as songs from Give Me a Crayon, I’ll Draw a Dog and Bumblebee and the Honey Bears. Skoumal inspired leading Czech lyricists and was in turn inspired by the witty, playful texts of Emanuel Frynta, Zdeněk Svěrák, Jan Vodňanský and Pavel Šrut. He sings many of the songs himself, either alone or accompanied by children’s performers; C&K Vocal, Jaroslav Olin Nejezchleba and the boys’ choir Pueri Gaudentes also contribute to several tracks. The simple, humorous lyrics make the songs suitable for children, while their hidden meanings and musical inventiveness entertain adult listeners just as much. Skoumal’s hedgehog runs towards both children and adults. The songs are in Czech.
