This two-CD set features Beethoven’s piano sonatas performed by pianist Jan Bartoš, one of the most interesting members of the younger generation of Czech musicians. On the recommendation of one of the world’s leading pianists, Alfred Brendel, Bartoš released an album of Mozart’s piano concertos the previous year, recorded with Jiří Bělohlávek, the Czech Philharmonic and the Doležal Quartet. The recording received considerable attention in international media, including Gramophone, the BBC, the Sunday Times and Fanfare.
