This classical music journey through Prague features works by composers associated with the city, including Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Gustav Mahler, performed by leading Czech ensembles. Prague’s landmarks, including Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the Old Town Astronomical Clock in Prague and the Old Jewish Cemetery, have made the “Golden City” one of Europe’s most visited destinations. The recording features the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the Brno Philharmonic, conducted by Václav Neumann, František Jílek, Libor Pešek, Oldřich Vlček and Zdeněk Košler. The programme includes Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 From the New World and Slavonic Dances, Smetana’s Vltava, the overture to The Bartered Bride, Mozart’s Prague Symphony, the overtures to Don Giovanni and La clemenza di Tito, Janáček’s Lachian Dances and Mahler’s Adagietto from Symphony No. 5.
