Mozart: Klavírní koncerty - CD

This live recording presents two of Mozart’s piano concertos: Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466, with Jan Bartoš, the Czech Philharmonic and conductor Jiří Bělohlávek, and Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, K. 414, performed in the composer’s transparent chamber version with the Doležal Quartet. Alfred Brendel describes Jan Bartoš as one of his most impressive and interesting young colleagues, combining virtuosity with deeply thoughtful musicianship. Bartoš’s musical world has also been profoundly shaped by his friendship with and the artistic and pedagogical mastery of Ivan Moravec. International competition successes, experience in leading concert halls including Carnegie Hall, and collaboration with major orchestras and conductors mark further stages in his musical journey. In Bartoš’s interpretation, Mozart’s apparently simple music reveals the deepest layers of its architecture and the emotions encoded within it. The serious, at times almost demonic D-minor Concerto unfolds like a mysterious story, while the brighter character of the A-major Concerto is enhanced by its chamber setting. Together, the two works reveal distant corners of Mozart’s many-layered musical world in an interpretation of the highest quality.
