Description
This Christmas album by Radůza continues the fairy-tale story begun on her best-of album Bylo nebylo and returns to the theme of Christmas seven years after the release of the Anděl-nominated, multiplatinum album Studny v poušti. Its songs draw musically and thematically on Czech Christmas traditions, ranging from the touching duet Mechanický betlém with Jiří Korn, dedicated to the nativity scene in Třebechovice, to lively carols composed for Domažlice bagpipe musicians and a moving song written for the girls’ cimbalom band Dubinka. The album also features jazz trumpeter Miroslav Hloucal, bassist Tomáš Liška, banjo player Luboš Malina and Unique Quartet. The quartet parts are arranged by contemporary classical composer Jana Vöröšová, whose works are also performed by the Czech Philharmonic. Radůza wrote Zimní příběh for Hana Zagorová and plays electric guitar, ukulele and other instruments on the album. The closing title song, in which Josef and Marie thank each other for the journey they have shared, is a tender expression of love and the strength of a life lived together. The paper digipack has a gentle, contemporary design by Štěpánka Bláhovcová.
