The 37th issue of the architecture magazine Zlatý řez explores modernity and the questions surrounding it: what it meant for architecture, how it manifested itself and what remains of it today. It asks whether there is one modernity or several, whether it can be readily described or is so complex that every definition is necessarily provisional, and whether it belongs to the past or whether we are still living in it. The issue includes articles by Liana Rosinová, Šárka Svobodová, Jaroslav Sedlák, Petr Klíma, Klára Mergerová, Petr Vorlík, Zdeňka Havlová and Tomáš Fassati, as well as an interview by Jana Tichá with Cyril Říha and Martin Hejla about the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale. Topics include purity and whiteness in modernist architecture, Růžena Žertová and Igor Svoboda, young monuments, the conversion of industrial architecture, the path to the Czech skyscraper, Prague beyond levels and the idea that intelligence is more than cleverness.
