Synopsis
After the death of her second husband, Philippe de Plessis-Bellieres, Angelique returns home to raise her children in peace. King Louis XIV summons her for a diplomatic mission: she must persuade the Persian ambassador Batchary Bay to sign a treaty with France. When the ambassador becomes captivated by her, Angelique is publicly presented as the king’s mistress, provoking a private war with Madame de Montespan and uncovering the truth about her first husband.
