Description
To avoid danger, a man in the forest is forced to kill a she-bear. Taking pity on her cub, he brings it home to his wife. This act of mercy and compassion soon affects the fate of the couple, whose love is tested by the birth of an unusual child. This wordless graphic novel by French author Nicolas Presl tells a moving story about the coexistence of humans and animals. Exceptionally evocative and poetic, yet at times bitter, the tale of a descendant who is neither human nor animal becomes a fantastical allegory that speaks without words about universal themes of love and disappointment, forgiveness and injustice, belonging and alienation. Drawing on the artistic tradition of the period between the two world wars, the author creates an emotionally charged and dramatically compelling story about the eternal search for meaning and identity.
