Description
This Czech-language work of fiction brings together three stories, three vessels and three emotions that cannot be contained. Bedřich looks for inspiration in a glass of beer but finds only a paradox: he loves too much to write, and writes too much to love. Pavlína travels to a forgotten Greek island in search of an archaeological discovery, only to encounter a desire of her own that she can neither name nor restrain. Bedřich’s letter to Pavlína, written with an hourglass on the table, is a confession that knows it is arriving too early and must nevertheless be written. Ondřej Chlubna connects three voices, three time periods and one shared theme: emotions that cannot be poured out because they lie at the very bottom, where they are strongest.
