Description
In this Czech-language thriller by Andrew Mayne, Professor Theo Cray cannot return to his university research because of the suspicions surrounding the death of a former student and the scandalous speculation following the killing of her murderer. Trying to start a new life in another field, he is drawn almost against his will into another unsolved case. The desperate father of a missing child, whom the authorities refuse to hear and who receives support from nowhere, turns to Theo for help. The only clues are children’s drawings and an urban legend from a poor neighbourhood about a being known as the Toymaker. To uncover what lies behind the Toymaker, Theo must set aside everything science tells him and enter a world where dreams and nightmares carry the same weight as reality. The deeper he goes, the clearer it becomes that a far-reaching conspiracy may be involved, one that has probably claimed further victims.
