Lékařská mikrobiologie - Repetitorium – Hurych Jakub (2021)

Originally conceived as a study text “from medical students for medical students,” this Czech-language textbook was prepared by the Medici Boni group during their medical studies and developed further in cooperation with experienced specialists from the Institute of Medical Microbiology at the 2nd Faculty of Charles University and Motol University Hospital. It is intended not only for students, but also for doctors, laboratory technicians and professionals in other healthcare fields. Medical Microbiology provides an introduction to microorganisms dangerous to humans, offering a comprehensive and systematic overview of clinically significant microorganisms, commonly used antimicrobial agents, methods used in microbiology laboratories and infectious diseases from the perspective of a clinical microbiologist. Students can use it when preparing for examinations and later in clinical practice. The third edition includes an update on the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as new sections on Nipah and Hendra viruses, which have the potential to cause another, possibly more serious pandemic, and the single-celled organism Blastocystis, which is rarely truly pathogenic and may instead indicate a healthy gut microbiome. The text has also been revised to make it clearer and easier to read, based on reader reviews.
