Description

This collection of essays examines what its authors describe as a serious negative shift in the social development of the Western world. In previous years, concern generally focused on individual, though fundamental, issues such as excessive and continually growing market regulation, unstoppable European centralisation, climate engineering and progressivism. Today, the authors argue, these issues are joining together in a broad global current whose ambition is nothing less than a complete transformation of the world as we know it. The Institute of Václav Klaus therefore presents its view of the West’s social crisis in its full breadth, depth and complexity. Although these trends have taken their most extreme and radical form in the United States in recent years and months, the collection is not simply a response to current American events. Instead, it attempts to analyse their wider connections and contribute to an understanding of how apparently different fields may represent partial manifestations of what the authors see as a single frontal attack on Western civilisation as built by earlier generations. Václav Klaus is the editor, with further contributions by Jiří Weigl, Ladislav Jakl, Aleš Valenta, Ivo Strejček, Michal Semín, Petr Hájek, Tomáš Břicháček and Milan Knížák. The book is in Czech.
