The Krkonošsko-Ještědský region and its foothills are full of remnants of human activity, behind which lie the fates of specific individuals. Their stories are connected to the specific development of the area. Similarly, the fate of monuments to human presence is closely linked to the development of society and the economy in the highest Czech mountains. This book is dedicated to objects that, due to various events, have already disappeared, are deteriorating, or are threatened with extinction. Among other things, you will learn about the fate of several vanished or completely reconstructed Krkonoš buildings, which are closely related to mountain management and the development of tourism. It follows with several monuments of folk architecture and the ruins or dilapidated noble residences as well as ecclesiastical monuments. Technical monuments are also significantly represented - mills, paper mills, textile factories, glassworks, and abandoned mining works.
