Description
This monograph examines quality and poor quality, art and kitsch in children’s books and literature for children and young people. The concept of poor quality concerns not only the artistic sphere but also book culture and the commercial conditions shaping the publication of contemporary children’s books. Olga Kubeczková seeks answers to how poor quality can be identified in the book as an object, its paratext, literary text and illustrations. The book aims to help parents and children, teachers and future teachers, librarians and young readers recognize the existence of low-quality children’s books and literature, distinguish it and respond appropriately to their inspiring or manipulative approaches. The text is in Czech.
