Description
This Czech-language book examines the identity known as the ego. When people describe themselves using “I”—“I am called…”, “I was born…”, “I live…”—they assume they are describing someone who has never actually seen and never will see the light of day. The ego is a false identity created by the mind, which persuades us that we are the person who is born, achieves success, rejoices, suffers, loses and eventually dies. The mind and habits inherited from the past teach us to obey without protest and to attend obediently to every thought that passes through our heads. Pleasant thoughts make us feel good, while unpleasant ones can cause great distress. The mind is an excellent servant but a truly cruel master. Learn to use its services only when they are needed.
