Sedmeroev – Stephenson Neal (2018)

The moon strikes a mysterious super dense (invisible) object and shatters it. Humanity initially breathes a sigh of relief, having narrowly escaped destruction, but scientists soon discover that the debris will continue to shatter and eventually crash to Earth, exterminating all life. No one will escape, perhaps only into space. But for now, only the International Space Station (ISS) is orbiting there... A grand saga of the will to survive is based on scientific knowledge and reads more like a documentary of a real catastrophe. The author skillfully describes technical details, physical principles, and sociological phenomena. The book, especially in the second part set in the distant future, brims with ideas and concepts that, despite their bizarre nature, have a believable and justified scientific basis. A treat for lovers of classic sci-fi.
