This Czech-language scholarly monograph, completed in its definitive form by editor Martin Kučera from the papers of historian Karel Kazbunda, examines the attitude of the Austrian governments and Czech-German politics towards the Czech nation during the First World War. It analyses in detail the views and civic and political positions of historians Jaroslav Goll and Josef Pekař, while presenting a range of archival documents previously unused or even unknown to Czech historiography, especially materials from Vienna’s central archives. The study concludes Kazbunda’s four-volume work on the history chair at Prague University and follows on from The Czech-German Question on the Eve of the Great War.
