Description
This philosophical book, whose contents are in Czech, was written by Vítězslav Gardavský under difficult working conditions between 1972 and 1975, when he was forbidden to work in his field. While it builds on themes from his two earlier books, God Is Not Entirely Dead and Hope from Skepticism, it also develops original reflections through the example of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. Gardavský attempts to rehabilitate the “prophet”, not primarily as an individual but rather in his social role as a critic of society. Ivan Landa’s edited edition is based on both a typescript and a handwritten version of Gardavský’s book.
