Description
Hayholt Castle, once the famous seat of the Sith, now the capital of the kingdom of men, is besieged by the Norns, their sworn enemies, who begin to sow destruction. And while the allies' attention is focused on this unexpected, lightning-fast attack, Utuk’ku, the immortal queen of the White Foxes, changes her strategy and throws all her forces towards the mysterious and fiercely defended Tanakirú – the Valley of Mists. The rescued queen Miriamele hastily gathers her loyal followers to march to Hayholt's aid and capture the treacherous Chancellor Pasevallese, but she arrives too late – the castle lies in ruins and the traitor has fled. From the unusual bond between Prince Morgan, the presumed heir to the throne, and Nezeru, a wayward Norn warrior, something deeper and more wondrous develops on their journey to Tanakirú than either of them expected. They penetrate ever closer to the heart of the mysteries the valley hides, encountering wonders and horrors, until they finally stand before an ancient secret for which the Norn queen waged war – a secret that could destroy both the immortal and the mortal. Yet these are not all the players in the grand finale that Tad Williams masterfully concludes the series The Last King of East Ard.
