This book presents true stories from the life of Honza Žanek Hlaváček, a musician and promoter of Brno slang known as hantec. In a series of short tales, he illustrates his talent for causing the biggest possible embarrassment in the shortest possible time and with minimal effort. The stories come from his studies, musical performances, holidays and various jobs, including work as a musician, sometimes even at funerals, as an IT specialist and as a teacher. They are all told in Brno hantec, with an essential glossary at the end of each chapter. In the final section, the author demonstrates the results of his educational work in Czechia by translating the principles of Petr Novotný’s Good Mood Club and stories depicted in paintings by Master František Ringo Čech, including his best-known work about animals. According to their statements in the introduction, both men are now admirers and fans of Brno hantec, which provides a promising beginning for the popularisation of this slang.
