Skejuš * Skejušané * Skejušan - Rusíni v Chomutově, původ, historie a současnost + CD – Landělová Věra (2017)

This interdisciplinary publication examines its subject on several levels. The authors first address the still highly relevant question of how to understand the Rusyns as an ethnic group, presenting a scholarly view of the Rusyns in light of contemporary theories of ethnicity, supplemented by a linguistic perspective and an overview of how the Rusyns are understood today in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and Europe more broadly. They then focus on the origins and development of Rusyn settlement in Banat, particularly the village of Skejuš, and describe its traditional way of life up to the period after the Second World War, when many people from Skejuš decided to migrate to Czechoslovakia, contributing to the formation of the Rusyn minority in Chomutov. Another substantial section deals with the folklore activities of Chomutov’s Rusyns, especially their Skejušan ensemble. The book includes numerous black-and-white and colour photographs, maps, a small Rusyn–Czech dictionary and an accompanying CD containing recordings of interviews with Rusyns and their traditional songs.
