Description
Dan and Tamma are two Californian teenagers growing up in poverty in the shadow of Joshua Tree National Park, one of the world’s great rock-climbing destinations. Their mothers were once teenage waitresses and best friends, but their lives have since taken different paths. Dan’s mother has withdrawn from the world and places all her hopes in getting her exceptionally clever son to university, while Tamma’s mother expects nothing from her outspoken, queer daughter, whom almost everyone sees as a troublemaker with no future. United by their dream of becoming legendary climbers, Dan and Tamma push themselves on increasingly difficult cliff faces, defying the expectations placed on them and finding hope in their friendship. As their final year of high school unfolds, their climbs grow more dangerous and their home lives more extreme, until something is bound to break.
