Description
He gained a new home and family, but now faces a difficult life in communist totality... The plot of the novel Auction directly follows the events described in Wild Country. Former pilot and war hero Antonín Maděra and his loved ones left the estate in Svatý Štěpán and decided to put down roots in the small settlement of Lučiny. However, their hopes for a peaceful and happy existence soon fade – in the following years, they must face severe drought, cattle thieves, the schemes of envious comrades, and pressure from state security. Even the Big Boss cannot be broken by nearly ten years spent in a labor camp and uranium mines, and the titular auction of racehorses can take place on the occasion of his eightieth birthday in free conditions at the beginning of the 90s. The novel chronicles the fates of several generations of Lučiny residents, thus providing not only a compelling testimony to the crimes of the communist regime but also an expression of the author's belief that life will find its way even in times of the greatest oppression... A continuation of the novel saga that inspired the successful series Wild Country. Duration of the recording: 23 hours 19 minutes.
