Zpívání se Spirituál kvintetem - CD

This CD brings together 24 recordings made between 1985 and 2019, presenting Zdenka Tichotová’s distinctive contribution to Spirituál kvintet. The songs were selected and arranged by Doktor Tichota, an expert in the many forms of spiritual music, into an engaging programme. Jiří Černý contributes a booklet text that extends the musical portrait into a profile of a woman with an extraordinary life in many respects. After singing tramping songs with the Nedvěd brothers in Toronto and with Brontosauři in 1974, Tichotová joined Spirituál kvintet, where she remained. Her clear, unforced vocal style suits the group’s blend of folk, gospel, folklore and Renaissance influences. Her solos were not frequent, but include the compelling gospel song What Month Was Jesus Born In, the a cappella traditional song Ty víš, jak mi lhát and the previously unreleased House Of The Rising Sun. The album also pays tribute to Spirituál kvintet, whose long career was due to end in spring 2020. It features new sound remastering, two previously unreleased recordings and a booklet with documentary photographs.
