Description
This CD presents the first four of Antonio Vivaldi’s twelve violin concertos for strings, Op. 8, composed in 1725 and known as The Four Seasons: No. 1 in E major, Spring; No. 2 in G minor, Summer; No. 3 in F major, Autumn; and No. 4 in F minor, Winter. They soon became some of the composer’s most popular and frequently performed works and remain classical music favourites today. Pavel Šporcl has kept these concertos in his repertoire for a long time, making this recording a natural continuation of his artistic relationship with these musical gems and an opportunity to display his virtuoso musicianship. He is accompanied by the Prague Chamber Philharmonic. The CD also includes Bach’s well-known Double Concerto, with Pavel Šporcl recording both solo parts, plus a video recording of part of the Storm movement from Summer.
