This expanded edition of the best-selling gaming book in the Czech Republic adds 48 pages and five beloved titles: Heroes of Might & Magic III, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Dark Souls, Minecraft and the modern Czech classic Kingdom Come: Deliverance. How did legends such as Dungeon Master, Lemmings, Ishar, Doom, Grand Theft Auto and Mafia come into being? What computers did they run on, who created them and what made them stand out? Following the publication O hrách a lidech from LEVEL magazine, this book returns to a time when game developers had to work everything out for themselves, from writing the program to releasing it. It traces the bold pioneering efforts behind 109 gaming legends that shaped almost two generations of young people for whom games became as important to their cultural awareness as films, books and comics. Each game receives four to ten pages covering stories from its development, original interviews with its creators and an assessment of its impact on the industry.
