This Czech-language history textbook for eighth grade follows modern approaches to teaching history, emphasizing clarity, comprehensibility, logical connections and links between subjects. The main text is clearly and simply written with students’ age in mind. It includes excerpts from literature with reading-comprehension questions, as well as numerous illustrative photographs, pictures and diagrams. Timelines and many maps help students orient themselves in the historical events discussed. The core text is supplemented in the margins with interesting additional information for curious students, intended for further learning rather than memorization. In accordance with the 2024 Czech Framework Educational Programme, the textbook also includes tasks developing key competences, addressing cross-curricular topics and encouraging inquiry-based learning; teachers can select which tasks to use, and students do not have to complete all of them.
