Descripción
Sixty years ago, academic painter Zdenka Landová created an exceptional collection of 150 paintings honouring the courageous Czechoslovak paratroopers from the ANTHROPOID, SILVER A, OUT DISTANCE and ZINC groups. Only a small part of this monumental cycle saw the light of day, appearing in 1968 and 1969 in the pages of the then-revived Junák magazine. Accompanied by short texts, the paintings told a dramatic story of the assassination, extraordinary heroism and vile betrayal. In their visual approach, they formed one of the first and completely unique comics in this country. For decades, this masterpiece remained hidden from the public, and the complete set of drawings was never published. It was rediscovered only a few years ago, and now, six decades after its creation, this fascinating collection reaches readers with accompanying text by historian Eduard Stehlík. The book presents all the paintings in the highest technical quality, bringing out every detail and opening the way to a unique artistic and historical experience devoted to the most heroic moments of modern Czech history.
