Descripción
This Czech-language novel follows Anna, who wears her grandmother’s coat, sleeps in a sleeping bag in a basement flat and carries sweaters, writing paper and a rolled-up camping cutlery set in her suitcase. She leaves her native village for Prague to discover whether she is still running from the past or finally pursuing her own dreams. After buying a map of Prague, she sets out to explore the city and find work. Bořek, Naďa and Vlasta cross her path, as does someone from her past whose place in her future remains uncertain. An unknown woman on a tram, however, has the most decisive influence on Anna’s life, without having the slightest idea of it. Short chapters move the story forward quickly and are filled with ordinary experiences, self-irony and humour. The novel is a loose continuation of the author’s first book, Suchý hadr na dně mořském.
