This third edition of a German textbook is designed for university students who want to review, supplement and expand their secondary-school knowledge of German and gain greater confidence in conversation. It suits both beginners and students with stronger language skills. After completing it, learners acquire approximately 1,000 words and phrases, learn to communicate effectively in basic everyday situations and, with the recordings, practise understanding native speakers. Grammar focuses on features important for spoken communication and for reading general and general-business texts, with exercises following each explanation. Every third lesson includes a review test for self-assessment. Listening texts connected with each lesson systematically develop comprehension, while the topics cover student life, professional situations such as writing a CV, starting a business, making telephone calls at a company and using the internet at work, as well as information about German-speaking countries. The book includes a CD with listening exercises.
