Politická psychologie – Krejčí Oskar (2004)

This original monograph by the renowned political scientist opens up an unfamiliar area of political science. It is the first work to introduce Czech readers to a field with a history of a hundred years that is now taught at numerous universities both west and east of the country. The book focuses on explaining the basic concepts and presenting the results achieved in the field. Political people are examined in terms of their biological impulses, interests, needs and attitudes. Particular attention is paid to the sources and nature of aggression, tolerance and altruism in political behaviour. A chapter devoted to the psychology of the political professional is especially significant, examining the psychology of the political leader, the importance and characteristics of the desire for power among politicians and statesmen, and the typology of politicians. It also provides information on psychohistory and psychobiography.
