This expedition into a world many people thought had disappeared follows two travellers, Mirek and Simon, as they make their own way to the Matsés indigenous people along the Amazonian Javari River, which forms a natural border between Peru and Brazil. Their journey brings extraordinary adventures, including a serious injury and the risk of one traveller dying in the middle of the rainforest wilderness. The film expedition, filled with mud, bottomless swamps, malaria-carrying mosquitoes, snakes and worms, as well as determination, perseverance and humour, leads to extremely inaccessible places and indigenous cultures from which we can still learn much. The book is accompanied by illustrations by the artist Nikkarin and the author's authentic photographs. It is also known as the adventure expedition film of the same name.
