Descripción
Berounsko and Hořovicko form a unique region where three protected landscape areas meet: Český kras (the Bohemian Karst), Křivoklátsko and Brdy. Thanks to the diversity of its environments, the region is home to a large proportion of the more than five thousand fungal species described in the Czech Republic, some of which grow nowhere else. This richly illustrated book introduces readers to a selection of the most beautiful, rarest and most fascinating fungi of the region. The authors hope that readers will remember that fungi are not divided merely into edible and inedible species, but have an important and irreplaceable role in ecosystems; that they grow not only in forests but also in places where they might not be expected; and that while many are abundant, others are rare and protected by law and therefore should not be collected. Fungi are not only the “meat of the poor,” but also an integral and ornamental part of nature. The contents are in Czech.
