Descripción
This Czech-language book explores the so-called Philadelphia Experiment, one of the mysterious episodes of wartime military research, and a series of strange events that allegedly followed it. The highly secret scientific project was supposedly tested in October 1943 at a US Navy shipyard in Philadelphia, where the destroyer USS Eldridge is said to have literally disappeared before the eyes of a witness. Carl M. Allen, who also claimed firsthand knowledge of the experiment’s tragic consequences, brought the story back to life at the end of 1955 by sending an anonymous package to the Office of Naval Research. Its contents lead to the enigmatic Morris K. Jessup, whose story connects with flying saucers, extraterrestrials and time travel. Did Jessup die by suicide, or was Wernher von Braun, the creator of Nazi Germany’s rocket programme, involved in his strange death? Was an attempt to teleport a battleship through time and space part of the military Rainbow project? David H. Childress attempts to answer these provocative questions. He is a regular contributor to the television programme Ancient Aliens and the author of numerous international bestsellers.
