Descripción
This Czech-language book introduces the festive days at the end of the year, when folk Christian traditions blend with older pre-Christian customs shaped by knowledge of natural laws and the desire to influence fate, sometimes with the help of magic. It also includes recipes for traditional festive dishes. As grandparents gradually pass away, centuries-old customs, traditions and distinctive holiday foods are quietly and irretrievably disappearing; the book preserves and presents them, including spiced gingerbread traditionally associated with Saint Nicholas Day, Christmas biscuits, braided Christmas bread and carp prepared in a traditional dark sauce.
