Little Lucia eagerly goes home with her new classmate Josie so they can play together. She is even allowed to spend her first night away from home. Lucia’s mother Elisa is deeply impressed by Josie’s mother Line and her beautiful house. She says goodbye to her daughter peacefully, unaware that her entire world is about to fall apart. The next day, the house is empty. It emerges that Line, or the woman calling herself Line, had only rented the house and has disappeared without a trace with both girls. The police search across Europe, while Elisa and her husband Fredrik come under intense scrutiny. The pressure mounts and long-hidden secrets emerge as the façade of the perfect family gradually falls away. Reporter Selma conducts her own investigation, slowly untangling the complicated web of relationships and lies. It seems that the unknown woman had her own reason for the kidnapping, and doubts begin to arise. With its breathtaking pace, multiple viewpoints and three strong female protagonists, this thriller was adapted into a TV miniseries by Disney+ in 2025.
