Descripción
This fourth-grade social studies textbook is part of the Understanding Connections series. In line with the current Czech Framework Educational Programme, it covers basic geographical, political, economic and cultural information about the Czech Republic and Europe. It also reflects the Czech education policy priorities through 2030+, introducing topics that support pupils’ self-knowledge and self-assessment, encourage critical thinking, and promote prosocial behaviour and interest in events in society. The textbook is divided into four main sections. Living Among People considers personal qualities, planning tasks and appropriate behaviour towards others. Living on Earth expands pupils’ knowledge of the Earth, climate and weather, types of landscape, orientation in the countryside and on maps, and basic geographical information about Europe. Living in the Czech Republic presents the country from geographical, cultural and economic perspectives. The regions are covered briefly together, while pupils explore their own place of residence and region through questions in the workbook; more detailed information is available online and in MIUč+. The final section introduces basic financial literacy at an age-appropriate level. The contents are in Czech.
