Operace Anthropoid: Epilog - Atentát na Heydricha ve světle dobových pramenů – Kmoch Pavel (2026)

This Czech-language book presents current knowledge of Operation Anthropoid, the assassination of acting Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich, its preparation, and the subsequent investigation and pursuit of those who carried it out. It contrasts the general awareness shaped by films and popular literature with information found in contemporary sources. The author examines not only the assassination itself but also its political context, questions surrounding the actual registration number of Heydrich’s car, whether the vehicle was really recently found in a barn, Heydrich’s alleged “coronation” with the St Wenceslas Crown, the final battle of the paratroopers in the church on Resslova Street, the legendary attempt to break through to the sewer, and the true fate of the fallen men’s remains. The book includes biographies and profiles of many important figures on both the occupying and resistance sides, accompanied by extensive photographic documentation. This second, expanded edition contains approximately one quarter more text and photographic material. It also asks whether films and popular literature convey the truth or perpetuate deliberately misleading clichés, what is fact and what is rumour, whether belief matters more than truth, who conceived the plan to kill Heydrich, and whether the victims of the reprisals died for a worthwhile cause.
