Edvard Beneš mezi Londýnem a Moskvou – Kubelková Radka (2017)

This Czech-language historical monograph examines Edvard Beneš during his years in London exile from 1941 to 1945 and analyses in detail the development of cooperation between the democratic exile politicians in London and the communist representatives of the Czechoslovak exile in Moscow. Beneš was a major figure in the first and second Czechoslovak resistance movements, a long-serving foreign minister of the First Republic and the second Czechoslovak president. The cooperation began in the first months after the Allied treaty with the Soviet Union was signed in December 1943 and took place between ideologically opposed centres whose political visions for the post-war functioning and structure of the republic differed considerably. Its result was the so-called Košice Government Programme, conceived by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. While the democratic representatives regarded it as the maximum possible arrangement for a transitional period of state consolidation ending with elections, the communists saw it as the minimum required for the planned process of socialisation.
