Descripción
This Czech-language humorous novel draws on the childhood of its author, Karel Poláček, spent in the town of Rychnov nad Kněžnou. Five mischievous boys led by Petr Bajza experience childhood adventures and discover the adult world in a small town during the First Republic. One of Karel Poláček’s best-known and most widely read books was written during the occupation, which makes the sensitivity with which he records not only his childhood impressions but also the structure of different social classes, reflected in the story, all the more striking. The book has been warmly received by both children and adults.
