Úvod do platónských studií - Metodologie, perspektivy, směřování – Boháček Kryštof (2025)

This Czech-language monograph offers a comprehensive overview of Platonic scholarship from the late seventeenth century to current trends, including detailed analyses of key texts by authors relevant to the field. It also presents an internationally exceptional survey of the relatively well-represented Czech Platonic scholarly scene, placing it within a schematic division of the main tendencies in international research. The interpretation of the field is guided by the hermeneutical foundations of individual schools and the points they share in the methodology of each interpreter. The book has two main parts: the first presents modern scholarship up to approximately 2000, while the second focuses on the hermeneutical foundations and principal trends among contemporary scholars. This second part also includes the author himself, his self-reflection as a Platonic interpreter and his attempt to offer readers a possible way through the main difficulties of Platonic scholarship. Considerable attention is therefore devoted to the analysis of the widespread Platonic perspectivism. On this basis, Kryštof Jitro Boháček proposes his molecular perspectivism as an attempt to acknowledge the contribution of modern scholarship while continuing the contemporary perspectivist methodology.
