Hercule Poirot and a murder committed as a New Year’s resolution. The renowned Belgian detective and his friend, Inspector Edward Catchpool, travel to the small Greek island of Lamperos to say goodbye to 1932 and welcome the year ahead. They find themselves among the distinctive community of residents staying at a local villa. During the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the guests play an apparently innocent game: each person anonymously writes down a resolution, and the others try to guess who wrote each one. One slip of paper, however, states that its writer will bring about “the last and first death of the year” and names the intended victim. Despite the presence of the greatest detective of all time, that is exactly what happens.
