Tegan is dead. She is sixteen, standing in the car park of the depressing Marybelle motel where she spent the worst weekend of her life. At reception she meets Zelda, a sweet and sarcastic girl who is actually an angel, complete with wings. According to Zelda, Tegan is in heaven, where everyone lives inside an exact copy of their happiest memory. Zelda insists that Marybelle is the right place for Tegan, but the terrifying miniature golf course, revolting breakfast buffet, broken television, and other horrors make that difficult to believe. If Zelda fails to convince Tegan, both girls face terrible consequences. If she succeeds, however, they may live happily ever after, even after death. Recommended for ages 13 and over.
