Descripción
This Czech-language novel takes place in the world of show business, where musicals, theatre comedies and lively shows exist alongside heartbreaking pop music, friendship, ambition and failure. A director forms the Second Hand Company, bringing together artists from the bargain bin: actors, singers and dancers who are not among the biggest stars and must take every opportunity to make a living. He offers ten of them one last great chance, and rehearsals for the biggest beer show ever seen in Prague become a struggle of blood, sweat and rock and roll. The story is about those listed in the credits as “and others”, the nameless people, losers or perhaps simply unlucky performers behind the curtain. It is filled with jokes, camaraderie, small victories and major falls during rehearsals for the show “You Can Eat Hope”. As the neon lights come on and the headlines ask whether a star is being born, the important thing is also knowing how not to be afraid of being afraid.
