Descripción
The book opens with the most notorious and closely followed case in the media: the story of Straka, the so-called Spartakiad murderer. What does a victim experience when tortured and killed by a young deviant? What drives a person to murder, how do they behave before, during and after the act, and what goes through an investigator’s mind when arriving at a crime scene and looking death in the face? Criminal investigator Jiří Markovič recalls this case and many others in an interview with the author, revealing details published here for the first time. A special place is given to a tragic event that took place thirty-seven years ago, when a seventeen-year-old girl was murdered on her way home. At the time, the murderer and his investigator stood opposed to each other; today, they are able to shake hands, sit at the same table and return in memory to that terrible night. The former murderer, now a successful painter, gave his investigator a painting whose motif appears on the cover of this book. The soul has painted its own portrait. The contents are in Czech.
