Mlha (2026)

This Czech-language horror novel follows John Holman, a capable environmental department employee investigating a secret Ministry of Defence base near a sleepy village on Salisbury Plain. An unexpected earthquake swallows his car and releases a strange mist that has lain dormant underground for years. Holman survives, but after confronting the mist temporarily loses his mind. Moving across the countryside as if guided by its own will, the mist drives those in its path to suicide or transforms them into merciless murderers. Respectable citizens, including teachers and clergymen, commit crimes ranging from obscene public urination to paedophilia, while a Boeing 747 captain, driven mad, deliberately crashes his aircraft into one of London’s towers. The disaster soon reaches terrifying proportions as the mist continues to spread and apparently nothing can stop it. With entire towns and villages at risk, Holman, who is immune to its effects, may be the only person able to destroy the insidious enemy from within, despite having no idea what danger awaits him inside the fog.
