This Czech-language graphic novel is the first part of a four-volume fantasy saga created for fans of Amulet and Lightfall. In a world where magical heritage is cruelly punished, a boy named Wynd must hide his true identity, even though this means he can never lead the ordinary life he longs for. When his secret is threatened, he leaves his home in the city of Rourov and sets out with his best friend Oakley and the heir to the throne, Yorik, on a dangerous journey that draws them into the middle of a royal conspiracy. Hot on their heels is the Bandaged Man, a notorious hunter of all magical and “strange-blooded” creatures. Their involuntary adventure takes them across the realm of Esseriel, once protected by four wind deities. But after the God of the Deep Forest created the races of furies and vampires, the human kingdoms began to collapse. The secret of Wynd’s origins may be connected to the fate of the entire realm. The book was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Publication for Teens and for a GLAAD Media Award, and is intended for readers aged ten and up.
