Descripción
This Czech-language historical novel follows Wenceslas of Luxembourg as he looks after his siblings after their father’s death. He marries his sister Anne to the English king Richard II and betroths his brother Sigismund to Mary, heir to the Polish kingdom. After the sudden death of Louis of Anjou, king of Poland and Hungary, Sigismund’s future is threatened by intrigues surrounding the dowager queen of Hungary. The Polish nobility refuses to accept Sigismund as their king, and his engagement to Mary is called off. Wenceslas, Prokop and Jobst of Luxembourg march into Hungary to support him. Can they secure at least the Hungarian throne for Sigismund? At the same time, the king must deal with the coexistence of two popes, unrest in the Holy Roman Empire and an unstable situation in southern Bohemia, where the Rožmberks have launched a campaign against the Austrian duke. To make matters worse, bandits appear near Kutná Hora.
