Julie is fairly content with her new life, and the island’s inhabitants have accepted her among them. Her brother, however, has shifted his tourist activities mainly to the local volcanoes, offering trekking tours to their craters, although not all of them are completely dormant and the authorities repeatedly warn people not to enter these areas. Julie is also troubled by the fact that Naira still appears determined to win Álvaro for herself.
