Sybil and Blake Gregory are a typical twenty-first-century couple: she is an interior designer, while he is a forward-thinking business analyst. When Blake is offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at work, he takes it and sets out to open a new branch of the company in San Francisco. While looking for a house, he is captivated by a beautiful mansion from the twentieth century and impulsively buys it. Everything changes as a result. The house is still inhabited by the Butterfields, a prominent banking family who lived there a century earlier. One night, they appear in all their splendour and with all the elegance of the era in which they lived.
